A Passionate Journey to Provide Real Results for Real People
After graduating nursing school in 2015 I began working in an operating room which exposed me to a lot of different specialities including neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery and plastic surgery among others. As a nurse, one of my biggest frustrations was needing doctors orders to provide care that I knew my patients needed. This led to me returning to school to obtain my Masters degree.
While I was still in school I had a near miss experience. I was breastfeeding my daughter and developed an infection. I knew what medication I needed, so I called my doctor and left a message with the nurse. Later that day I got a notification that my medication was ready, but it was a different medication, one that wasn’t compatible with breastfeeding mothers.
If I didn’t have the education background that I did at the time I wouldn’t have caught this and would have harmed my baby. This was a very reaffirming moment for me, and led to me being very passionate about patient care. Patients shouldn’t have a medical background to assure they are receiving the correct care.
So, how does this all lead up to me opening Complete Wellness? I have always been drawn to aesthetics, most likely because of my early exposure to plastic surgery. I love that there are methods to achieve natural and graceful changes to people’s appearances. I wanted to create an environment that is a little bit different than the typical medspas in the area.
One, I wanted to provide accessible aesthetic and skin care services. As a mother myself, I know that it can be difficult to get to appointments because….life. Second, I wanted to create a judgment-free space for men and women with aesthetic concerns. I have gone to medspas for injections and felt very judged for what I was wearing or what I looked like. I don’t want my patients to pretend or feel as if they need to “fit in”.
Lastly, as a nurse practitioner, I was educated to look at the patient as a whole. This is why I offer more than just aesthetic services- we need to treat the inside of the body just as much as the outside!
